On October 30th 2024, a round table titled "Forms of Child Protection in the Social Welfare System" was held at the Center for Social Work of the City of Novi Sad, moderated by Dunja Bekvalac Rakić, a facilitator of educational programs at CPSU NS. Opening remarks were made by Dragan Savić from the association "Srpska Atina," Jelena Zorić, the director of the Center for Social Work of the City of Novi Sad, and Ivana Koprivica, the acting director of the Center for Family Accommodation and Adoption in Novi Sad. Maja Petrović, a lawyer at the Center for Social Work, addressed the question of how the suitability for guardianship differs from the suitability for foster care. Challenges and dilemmas faced by case managers regarding relative foster care were discussed by Marija Rajković, a case manager at the Center for Social Work, and Vesna Aničić, a supervisor at CPSU NS. Colleagues Jovana Tomić and Emilija Tadić from the Children's Village "Dr. Milorad Pavlović" spoke about the prevention of child displacement and the importance of strengthening families, as well as about children in residential care and the challenges of establishing and maintaining contact with their families. Maja Dumnić, a social protection advisor from the Provincial Institute for Social Protection, discussed the challenges and opportunities for supporting families in crisis. The round table concluded with a discussion.
